Code Enforcement
The City of Washington’s Administrative Hearing process is a quasi-judicial tribunal for the fair, efficient and expeditious adjudication of some municipal ordinance violations. The City Council adopted Ordinance 3524 on March 18, 2024, to create the Administrative Adjudication process through a Hearing Officer. The process affords a party due process of law. The system shall have jurisdiction to adjudicate matters arising out of any provisions of the City Code, except for (i) proceedings not within the statutory or the home rule authority of the City; and (ii) any offense under the Illinois Vehicle Code or a similar offense that is a traffic regulation governing the movement of vehicles and except for any reportable offense under Section 6-204 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
